2 July 2012

Jacob Fincham-Dukes, a fifteen-year old student at St John Fisher Catholic High School in Harrogate is celebrating after smashing a 20-year school record with a long jump measuring an impressive 7.22m.

Improving on the school record by over 1m has positioned Jacob as one of the St John Fisher’s and indeed Yorkshire’s top young athletes.

Jacob competes nationally for Leeds Athletics Club and was selected to represent the North of England in recent hurdles competitions at the Olympic Stadium in London.

Aidan Pass, Head of PE at St John Fisher, said:

In the year that the UK is hosting the Olympic Games, we are immensely proud to have a number of serious sporting achievements to shout about. Jacob has not only beaten a long-standing school record, he has absolutely smashed it.

He is an exceptionally gifted athlete who works extremely hard to progress in all his sporting disciplines. He is an absolute asset to the school and we can’t wait to see how his skills develop.
