Detectives investigating an indecent assault in Harrogate have released a partial image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an incident.
At around 5pm on Saturday 9 June 2012, a 24-year-old local woman was taking photographs in Valley Gardens when a man approached her, touched her bottom and tried to kiss her.
The victim managed to catch a shot of the man on her camera which although only partially shows him could help lead to his identity.
There have been a small number of similar incidents in the area over the past few months and officers are appealing to the public to help identify the man suspected of being involved in the latest offence.
Detective Constable Fiona Ayre, of Harrogate CID, said:
Clearly the behaviour of this man is completely unacceptable and I hope that someone will recognise him from the image and tell us who he is.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a complete image of the man we are looking for but I am confident that the partial picture we have of him is good enough to enable someone to help identify him.
I am also appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident on 9 June to come forward with information and I would like to hear from you if you have been approached in similar circumstances recently.
Anyone who can help the investigation is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Fiona Ayre or Harrogate CID.
Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
