Be a reporter for a day at the Great Yorkshire Show

29 June 2012

Harrogate-News is looking for young reporters and photographers to help cover the Great Yorkshire Show between the 10 – 12 July 2012.

Teams of two individuals, will each be issued a press pass, giving them free entry to the show and access to the media centre.

On the day, you will be met at the show by 9am and then the assignment agreed. You then venture out into the show to report on the news item before returning to the media office to process your photographs and write up the news item. The item will then go live on Harrogate-News complete with the authors name against it of course.

During the show there are many media opportunities from celebrity appearances, displays in the main show ground to the traditional judging of the prize animals.

Tim Cook, the Editor of Harrogate-News said:

Working with community is one of the fundamental principles of the Harrogate-News website.

We have spoken with a number of schools around supporting media studies with hands-on experience and this is just an extension of that work.

Being in the media office at such a big show means you get to mingle with all the big media names in the area too.

Don’t be put off if you are young or think you are too inexperienced. If you have the passion and interest then everything else will follow.

If you would like to be considered then please email some brief details about yourself and why you think you would be a good reporter.

email news@harrogate-news.co.uk with the title of “GYS Reporting” in the title.
