Ripon police are appealing for information following an assault in the city.
It occurred sometime between 5am and 7am on Saturday 2 June 2012, as a 24-year-old local man walked along Park Street heading towards Clotherholme Road.
As the man was close to the entrance for Spa Park, opposite the swimming pool, he was approached by a man holding what may have been a broken bottle or glass. The suspect jabbed the object towards the victim’s face. The man put his hand up to avoid being hit and suffered a serious cut to his hand.
The offender is a man, around 5ft 8 to 5ft 9in tall with an athletic build and short dark hair. At the time he was wearing a jacket, stone or grey jeans with elsaticated ankles and light coloured canvass trainers.
PC Dave Furlong, of Ripon Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:
This was a nasty and apparently unprovoked assault. It is only through the quick reactions of the victim himself that the injuries are not far more severe.
I urge anyone who can identify the man responsible to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.
Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is asked to contact Ripon police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Dave Furlong.
Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 12120089829.
