After some months of negotiation Thirsk Tourist Information (TTI) are pleased to announce that they have acquired an Agency for National Express Coach tickets, covering the UK and Europe, and tickets are once again available in Thirsk.
Seven days a week you can travel directly to London, Newcastle, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Northampton and Cambridge. With only one change most places in the country can be reached.
Since opening as a volunteer run, not-for-profit company a year ago, when Thirsk was in danger of losing its Information Centre, TTI volunteers have received a number of requests from local people and visitors for information on buying National Express Coach tickets, which were no longer available in the town.
In addition to selling coach tickets, TTI also sell Theatre Tokens, exchangeable for most theatre tickets, and take bookings for local events; currently Picnic in the Park in July, The Savannah Jazz Band concert in April and the Ritz Cinema 100th anniversary film quiz on 30th March.
By undertaking these additional roles the volunteers at TTI are hoping to support the local economy and provide a service, not only for visitors to the area, but also to those of us lucky enough to live here. We hope that National Express will be encouraged to keep stopping in Thirsk now that tickets can be bought here.
From 2nd April, TTI’s opening hours will be extended to 10-4 daily, Monday to Saturday.
