York police have charged a care home worker with the assault and neglect of an elderly woman in her care.
The 54-year-old woman is due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 9 May 2012 charged with assault by beating and wilfully neglecting a person without capacity (under the Mental Capacity Act 2005) on 29 December 2011.
It is rare for somebody to be charged with wilful neglect under the Mental Capacity Act.
The victim, aged 85, is a resident at The Lodge in Heslington.
