In this relegation battle Wakefield gained a valuable win to climb over Harrogate Railway and out of the relegation zone. Chances were far and few between in the first half as Railways Fisher saw his header crash against a post and WakefieldsThornton saw his free-kick comfortably saved by Brookes in goal.

The second half developed the same pattern with neither keeper really being tested. With just 10 minutes of the 2nd half played Wakefield were awarded a penalty when Caldon Henson was brought down inside the box by Brookes. Fernando Moke stepped up to take it and slotted the ball home to the keepers left.
Rail could not find a way through for the remainder of the half and Wakefield ran out winners and gain revenge for their 5-1 thrashing earlier on in the season.
