North Yorkshire hairdresser Joseph Ferraro will be joining models on the catwalk, rather than working backstage, when he takes part in London Fashion Week.
The 30-year-old stylist has one of the hottest tickets in town at the fashion extravaganza, which runs from 17 to 22 February.
Joseph, who co-owns Halo Hair and Beauty in Leeds Road, Harrogate, with business partner Chris Burton, will be styling the models’ hair for top contemporary British knitwear designer Derek Lawlor.
But instead of working backstage on the models, creating designer hairstyles to match the designer knitwear, Joseph will be up front working on the catwalk.
In an unusual twist on the traditional catwalk show, Joseph, and his fellow members of the highly-respected Sebastian Cult Team, will be styling the models in front of the audience.
In an off-schedule show, taking place at the trendy Shoreditch-based Paper Dress Vintage, a London and Leeds-based vintage clothing store, fashionistas will watch the quirky show featuring Derek Lawlor fashions while being served tea and cake!
During the show Joseph will be creating two distinct looks for the models, who will be styled as mannequins being prepared for the shop window.
Joseph’s hairdressing skills will be put to the test in front of a packed audience waiting to see Derek Lawlor’s autumn/winter 2012 collection – as well as some unusual headpieces created by Royal College of Art student Hannah Morgan.
Joseph, twice a finalist in North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year and a member of the 2011 FAME (Fellowship Academy of Merit and Excellence) Team, is delighted with his new challenge at London Fashion Week.
He is no stranger to the event, having worked previously with designers Henry Holland, Alexander McQueen protégée Jayne Pierson and Cheryl Cole’s favourite designer David Koma.
Joseph said:
This will be a really quirky show, something a bit different and unusual for the audience to enjoy.
Derek Lawlor’s creations are exciting and contemporary and we will be styling hair to match. It’s fast and furious work, but I love being involved in London Fashion Week.
It also fills me with ideas and inspiration to bring back to my clients at Halo in Harrogate.
