24 January 2012

Jack DeeHarrogate Theatre has announced that one of the UK’s top comedians – Jack Dee – will take to the stage on Thursday 15 March to perform an exclusive gig. Following a six-year absence from stand-up he’s back to showcase brand new material ahead of his 2012 tour, agonising over the slightest of annoyances and misdemeanors.

Now established as one of Britain’s well-loved and biggest comedy stars, Jack Dee has captured the imagination of audiences and critics with his dry humour and deadpan delivery. He’s won three British Comedy Awards, and was nominated for Best Entertainment Performer at the 2005 BAFTAs.

Jack’sstand up career began in 1986 when he delivered his first open mike spot at the world famous London Comedy Store. It wasn’t until 1991 that he got his first big break, being nominated for the Edinburgh Festival Perrier Award and wining the British Comedy Award for Best Comedy Newcomer.

In 2004 Jack hosted Jack Dee Live at theApollo (BAFTA nominated), which was quickly followed by a second series in 2005. In 2006 Jack teamed up with Pete Sinclair to write the critically acclaimed sitcom Lead Balloon forBBC4. Rave reviews and record ratings saw the series repeated on BBC2 that same year, and it was quickly followed by a further series of eight episodes in 2007. In 2008 a third series of six shows and a Christmas special aired on BBC2, followed in the summer of 2011 by the final series of a further six shows. Jack has also appeared on QI, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, 8 out of 10 Cats and Have I Got News For You, as well as hosting BBC Radio 4’s legendary I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue.

Jack Dee’s appearance follows on from other sell-out exclusive performances by Lee Evans, Russell Howard and, most recently, John Bishop – all of which continue to cement Harrogate as one of the North’s top comedy destinations.

Jack Dee will be at Harrogate Theatre on Thursday 15 March at 8.00pm. Tickets will be on sale on Wednesday 25 January at 10am and will be available to book securely online at www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk, over the phone on 01423 502 116 and in person at the Harrogate Box Office.
