Double murder investigation opened in Leeds

PoliceA murder investigation has been opened in Garforth, Leeds.

Police were called at around 4pm on the afternoon of  15 Jan 12 to reports of an assault at the Fairburn Ings nature reserve near Castleford.

Officers attended and following initial enquiries, a house search was subsequently conducted at an address on Kirkby Avenue in Garforth, Leeds.

A 31 year old woman and an 8 year old girl were found deceased at the property.

A 4 year old girl was also located with minor injuries and transported to Leeds General Infirmary. She was later discharged.

A 36 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of Murder and Attempted Murder.

He is currently in police custody and enquiries remain ongoing.
