Chris said:

Obviously you don’t start off in the Fire Service expecting to be recognised in such a way and I was very pleased to be informed that I had been included in the New Years Honour list. As the Fire Service is built on team work, receiving the Queens Fire Service Meda…l recognises not only the work I have been involved in but the efforts of those people I have worked with over the past 29 years. In particular, in the most recent past those that have worked with me and achieved so much in respect of the various road safety initiatives I have been involved in.

Nigel Hutchinson, Chief Fire Officer & Chief Executive said:

I am delighted to learn that Chris has been awarded the QFSM in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours. Not only has he worked tirelessly throughout his career to safeguard communities from fire and other emergencies, but he has also led on a number of joint initiatives with other agencies on road safety that have resulted in many lives being saved in North Yorkshire and the City of York. This award is very well deserved and I congratulate him wholeheartedly.
