Thief strikes at Knaresborough Christmas market

PoliceA 53-year-old local woman who was helping out with the St John’s Ambulance tombola stall, in Castle Yard when she had her bag stolen.

The bag was taken sometime between 9am and 5pm on Saturday 3 December 2011.

The cloth bag, which is black and is decorated with a pink psychedelic pattern and sequins, contained a black Radley purse with a dog logo on the front. The purse contained cash, bank cards and medication.

Knaresborough police are appealing for witnesses after a handbag was stolen from the town’s Christmas market.

PC Hugh Larkin, of Knaresborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

The victim is obviously very upset by this incident and her purse holds sentimental value to her.

I am appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area of the Christmas market around the time of theft to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.

 

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for PC Hugh Larkin or Knaresborough police.
