A serious road traffic collision (RTC) took place at around 4:20pm today (28 Dec 11) on the A661 between Harrogate and Spofforth.
The road was closed in both directions with a diversion in place from the Kestrel roundabout. The road remained closed until 7 pm as debris were removed from the road.
The incident involved a black Volkswagen GOLF driven by a 31-year-old woman from Harrogate was travelling towards Harrogate when it was in collision with a grey BMW 320 and a blue Renault Scenic, both travelling in the opposite direction, towards Spofforth
The Black Volkswahen came to rest down an embankment and Fire crews had to cut the woman free.
The driver of the Renault Scenic, a 44-year-old man from West Yorkshire was taken to Harrogate District Hospital but later discharged. His passengers, two girls aged 12 and 14 were admitted to hospital for observations.
The BMW driver, a local man in his fifties was not taken to hospital
