Harrogate & Knaresborough MP, Andrew Jones, showed his support for the work of local postal workers this week by visiting the Harrogate sorting office on Claro Road. Mr Jones was given a tour of the office by manager, Gary Abbot, and thanked Royal Mail staff for their hard work.
Mr Jones said:
The festive season is extremely busy time for our postmen and women. I am pleased to be able to show my support at this demanding time.
I know that our local posties will be working flat out to get cards and packages delivered to homes across Harrogate and Knaresborough. On behalf of residents, I want to thank our postmen and women for all their hard work and hope they have an enjoyable Christmas and New Year.
Mr Jones was told of some of the problems the sorting office have delivering cards and presents that are not addressed correctly.
Mr Jones continued:
I saw for myself just how hard the sorting office tries to get every card and every present to the correct person. But even so thousands of poorly addressed items each year are classified as ‘undelivered post’. We can all help reduce that number by ensuring we put the full address – including the postcode – on everything we send.
