A hunt has been launched after a man was punched unconscious in the taxi rank at York station in the early hours of Sunday, 20 November.
Detectives are asking for anyone who may have been around the area at the time to come forward and assist police with the investigation.
Detective Constable Andy Lehman, of BTP’s Criminal Investigation Department, said:
At around 3am, a verbal altercation began between the victim, a 20-year-old from Harrogate, and another man at the taxi rank.
The suspect then suddenly leant towards the victim and punched him in the head, knocking him to the floor and left him unconscious.
The victim was taken to York District Hospital where he received stitches for a cut to his head.
DC Lehman added:
This was a nasty attack which left a young man seriously injured and required hospital treatment. We will not tolerate violence such as this and I am appealing for anyone who was at the station’s taxi rank at the time or who may have any information to come forward.
The suspect is described as a white man, aged between 25-30 and around 5ft 10.
