Children from Woodlands Day Nursery have shown their true colours by winning an art competition organised by Ashville Pre-Prep School.
Nurseries from across Harrogate were invited to enter the school’s second annual art competition, where they designed a collage based on the book, Rumble in the Jungle.

A total of nine nurseries and child care providers took part in the challenge, with the Woodlands creation – which featured flora and fauna designed and painted by the children – picking up the trophy plus £250 to spend on art and craft materials.
Ashville Pre-Prep School Head Teacher Carol Berrie said:
It was fantastic to see the effort and imaginative flair that had gone into the art work done by all this year’s entries.
We were delighted with the response and it was a very difficult choice to pick the winners as all the work was of a very high standard. The collage created by Woodlands Day Nursery was brilliant, and the children and staff in the Pre-Prep School enjoyed looking at all the animals, plants, flowers and trees.
We based this year’s theme on the book Rumble in the Jungle by Giles Andreae and David Wojtwycz, which is a favourite with our pupils.
Kindercare at Hornbeam Park was awarded second place with Harrogate Grammar School Nursery in third place. Both were presented with certificates.
The winners were announced at Ashville’s annual Open Afternoon, which was attended by more than 100 families. Activities on the day also included face painting, storytelling, music and craft activities.
