Police appeal for Land Rover driver to come forward following collision in the Ripon area

Police are appealing for a vital witness to come forward following a road traffic collision near Ripon.

It occurred at just after 2pm on Saturday 22 October 2011, at crossroads on Stark Bank Road near Ellingstring when two motorcyclists, who were part of a larger group, collided.

At the time of the collision the motorcycles were travelling in single file, heading towards Jervaulx, when they were passed by a grey old style Land Rover, travelling in the opposite direction.

The rider of the motorcycle was taken to Harrogate District Hospital by air ambulance with serious but non life threatening injuries.

Traffic Constable Tony Leonard, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said:

I am appealing for the driver of the Land Rover to come forward as I believe he may have vital information about the collision. I urge the man, or anybody that can identify him, to contact the police as soon as possible.
