Andrew Jones MP for Harrogate & Knaresborough is inviting all local primary school children aged 7 to 11 years old to create a cover design for his 2011 Christmas card.
The winning design will be the front of Mr Jones’s Christmas card and will be announced on Monday 21 November 2011. In addition to the winning entry, there will be a runner up from each local primary school which submits entries. Entries are now being accepted until the competition closes on Friday 11 November 2011.
Andrew Jones commented:
When deciding on a design for my Christmas card, I could think of no better way to spread the Christmas cheer than to get local primary school children involved by designing the card. Last year’s competition drew hundreds of entries and I hope that this year will do the same.
Andrew Jones has invited former Borough Mayor Councillor Pat Jones, retired primary school teacher Penny Mackenzie and the present Borough Mayoress Christine Ellington to judge the competition. Judging will be based on creativity, use of colour and Christmas cheer.
Local Primary School Headteachers in Harrogate, Knaresborough, Boroughbridge and the surrounding villages have been informed of the competition. Entries should be made on one side of A4 paper with the child’s name, age, class teacher and school, clearly written on the back of their entry. Each child may only submit one entry.
Due to printing deadlines entries will not be accepted after the Friday 11 November 2010. Local primary school children wanting to enter should send their entries to Andrew Jones’s constituency office on 57 East Parade, Harrogate, HG1 5LQ.
