Fire Crews were called last night (27th Sept 11) at 9:30pm to Lindley Farm in Lofthouses with a reported fire.
Appliances attended from Lofthouses, Summerbridge, Harrogate, Masham and Ripon.
The farm was in a remote location that created problems with access to a supply of water.
Craven and District Station Manager, Ben Cairns said:
The roof on the property was well alight when we arrived but one of the biggest challenges was to locate a supply of water.
We had to lay well over a mile of water relay to reach a water hydrant.
We also called on the aerial platform from the Harrogate station so we could get access to the roof.
The fire was bought brought under control within an hour using 3 hose jets and 4 breathing apparatus. It caused approximately 50% damage to the roof with some further damage due to the water used in extinguishing the fire. Fire crews continues to monitor the building for hotspots today.
No indication has been given over the cause of the fire and there were no injuries.
