A NEW SUPPORT service has been launched to help local people struggling to live with bereavement.
Just ‘B’, the bereavement support service offered by local charity Saint Michael’s, this week unveiled its new bereavement drop-in service for the Harrogate area.
The drop-in will be held fortnightly at Harrogate Library, Victoria Avenue, Harrogate , between 5pm and 7pm, with the next meeting scheduled for Wednesday 28th September
Tony Collins, Chief Executive of Saint Michael’s, said:
Our Just ‘B’ drop-ins are safe and confidential places where people who have been bereaved in the last two years can meet other people in a similar situation as well as speaking to bereavement workers and get support through this difficult, lonely and sometimes frightening time.
It is very important to us that our drop-in is accessible to all and we hope that by offering help that is free and delivered from a convenient local venue will help us achieve this.
Tony added that the new drop-in was part of the charity’s wider commitment to ensuring the people of Harrogate and the wider district get the support they need to live with bereavement, through the charity’s Just ‘B’ bereavement support service.
As well as community drop-ins our service also offers written and verbal information, phone, face-to-face and group work, counselling and appointments with a psychologist where appropriate.
Just ‘B’ is available for people experiencing any type of bereavement including suicide, road traffic accident or terminal illness.
It also offers services tailored to the needs of children, young people and adults.
However the new drop-in is specifically designed to help adults who have been bereaved in the last two years.
