Town suffered their first home league defeat since February, going down 0-2 to Boston United. In front of an excellent 500+ crowd, Paul Brayson began by driving a twentyfive yard free kick straight at Paul Bastock in the visitor’s goal.
After Marc Newsham had given Boston a tenth minute lead with a shot into the far corner, via a post,Town fought back. Bastock denied Peter Bore with a point blank save and Adam Nowakowski volleyed over the bar.
Town kept up the pressure and Paul Heckingbottom and Callum Hassan threatened with headers. However, Boston with both Kevin Holsgrove and Ryan Semple shooting across goal when clear, should have stretched their lead before the break.
Harrogate staged their customary second half fightback and Brayson rounded Bastock, only for Alan White to block on the line. With his last action before making way for Liam Hardy, Nowakowski saw his close range shot diverted over the bar.
Ian Ross and Will Turl joined the fray as Town strove for the equaliser. Brayson’s close range effort was turned for a corner and Bastock produced a fine save to keep out an Ian Ross drive.
Town had the lion’s share of possession but found it hard going against an uncompromising Boston defence and were often let down by their final ball.
Two minutes from time Boston’s joint manager Jason Lee rose high to beat Cook with a looping header from Chris Hall’s free kick.
