A Harrogate tree expert has swapped his chain saw and axe for solar panels and wind turbines, as he starts a new role with a leading Yorkshire renewable energy company.
Dan Curston, a tree surgeon with more than 20 years experience, has joined the expanding team at Clean Energy (Yorkshire), which is based on Harrogate’s Pannal Business Park.
In addition to working as a surveyor for the company, the 37-year-old will give qualified professional advice to colleagues and customers in all arboriculture matters.
Clean Energy (Yorkshire) Managing Director Spencer Cassidy said:
Dan is a very welcome addition to our surveying team and brings with him an expertise that is increasingly in demand.
Quite often if a property is surrounded by trees, the owner will ask a raft of questions. These will range from trees impacting on sunlight to ‘is planning permission needed to reduce a tree’s height?’
I’m not aware of any other renewable energy company having a ‘tree surgeon’ on its team, so this is another first for Clean Energy (Yorkshire).
Dan said:
A back injury forced me to give up my profession, so I was looking for a job that still involved working outdoors. My role with Clean Energy (Yorkshire) is ideal.
The knowledge I have learned over a period of two decades, which includes planning and the law, can be used to benefit both the company and customers alike.
