Selby suspect caught on camera

18 August 2011

Selby police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to trace in connection with a car break-in.

Overnight between Tuesday 12 July and Wednesday 13 July 2011 a white Citroen Berlingo van was broken into on Brayton Lane, Selby and a black Prada wallet containing £240 and various bank cards was stolen.

The suspect also took an air rifle from the vehicle.

Investigations by local officers have discovered that one of the victim’s bank cards was used at 1.48am on 13 July at a cash machine outside Tesco Express in Brayton.

The suspect has been captured by CCTV cameras outside the store and police are urging the public to help identify him.

It is believed that after using the card, the offender left in a silver Vauxhall Vectra.

PC Bryan Townsend, of Selby police, said:

The images we have obtained clearly show the man we are looking for and I am appealing for the public to tell us who he is.

Not only has the suspect damaged the victim’s vehicle, but he has stolen his wallet and other personal possessions as well as using his bank card.

I would urge anyone who can help us locate the man captured on the CCTV footage to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact PC Bryan Townsend, of Selby police, on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110116025.
