Police are appealing for information after a 56-year-old local man was injured after being shot in the foot during a disturbance in the park that runs alongside Savile Drive in the Chapeltown area of Leeds.
At 7.20pm last night (2 August) officers were called to the scene following reports that groups of men were fighting in the area. On arrival the men had dispersed
A short time later police were notified of a 56-year-old man attending at hospital with a gun shot wound to his foot.
Police believe the gun shot wound and the disturbance on Savile Drive are linked and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
The 56-year-old man remains in hospital this morning but his injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
An area around the park and the junction between Chapeltown Road and Saville Drive remain cordoned off this morning while forensic examination of the scene continues.
