Police are appealing for the mother of a newborn girl to come forward after the body of her baby daughter was found in Bradford this morning.
West Yorkshire Police have genuine concerns for the health of the mother of the newborn baby girl whose body was found by staff at a waste management site in Bradford at about 2.35am on Thursday May 19.
The site processes material from homes in both Bradford and Leeds and enquiries are currently ongoing to determine where in West Yorkshire the infant may have come from.
A full post morterm is scheduled to take place later today to determine the cause of death of the youngster but it is believed she was only very recently born.
Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of her body.
Detective Superintendent Sukhbir Singh who is leading the enquiry, said: “We have genuine concerns for health and welfare of the mother of this young baby and our overriding priority at the moment is to find her and ensure her safety.
“She may well be in need of medical attention herself and I would urge her to contact us at West Yorkshire Police or for anyone who has information about her to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
Anyone who has information should contact DS Ian Lawrie at the Homicide and Major Enquiries Team on 08456 06 06 06
