North Yorkshire Police issued an appeal in March 2011 for the public’s help to trace a man who has been on the run from court since 2007.
50-year-old Michael Edward Kenny originally from London was sentenced in his absence to eight years’ imprisonment at York Crown Court on 15 November 2007.
A bench warrant was issued by the court on 13 November 2007, when Kenny failed to turn up for his trial. He was found guilty in his absence of six high-value burglaries following the theft of antiques, paintings and jewellery worth thousands of pounds from six houses in the Malton, Great Broughton and York areas.
With the assistance of Bedfordshire Police, Kenny was today (6 May 2011) arrested in Luton, Bedfordshire and he is currently in custody.
