Cyclist airlifted to Hospital after serious injuries near Pateley Bridge

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedal cyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after he came off his bike near Pateley Bridge.

At around 4:25pm on Friday 1 April, the cyclist, a man in his forties from Derbyshire, was riding with friends along the B6265 towards Pateley Bridge. As he cycled down Red Brae Bank he overtook a vehicle before leaving the road and colliding with the crash barrier. The vehicle was not involved in the collision.

He suffered serious back and pelvic injuries as a result of the collision and was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

He was riding a Specialized Roubaix cycle at the time. Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the collision or the cyclists prior to the incident, to contact them.
