Luxury bespoke jewellers Stoners opened its new Harrogate store on Princess Street with a gem of a pledge to enhance the quality of life for cancer patients and their families by raising £25,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care during 2011.

The Mayor and Mayoress of the borough of Harrogate were joined by Marie Curie Cancer Care representatives and guests including former England cricketer Ryan Sidebottom at the vibrant opening of the boutique outlet which specialises in bespoke diamond jewellery and Rolex watches.

The celebration also included an exclusive exhibit of a spectacular diamond necklace, valued at half a million pounds, designed for a member of the Arab royal family.

Brian Curran, regional corporate development manager at Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be associated with Stoners. £25,000 will provide local people with a Marie Curie Cancer Care nurse for a whole year, looking after potentially hundreds of patients and families at a most crucial time in their lives. “We very much appreciate the support from Chris and Sarah Stoner and their team, and look forward to working with them.”

Bill Hoult, Mayor of the borough of Harrogate, added: “It’s marvellous to celebrate such a success – a young, dynamic business opening up in Harrogate. I was very impressed by the 250% growth of Stoners’ Shipley store under Chris’s management, and look forward to hearing about their ongoing achievements in Harrogate.”

In addition to the stunning in-house collection, the team of Stoners designers at the store including former head designer at the Goldsmiths chain, Georgio Gerakio, are available for consultants to craft designs to customers’ exact specifications.  visit www.stonergroup.co.uk
