Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision last night.
At around 11:10pm on Thursday night (13 January) a black, V-registered Toyota Avensis was traveling along High Moor Lane, an unclassified road between Tollerton and Shipton. The car was traveling towards Shipton when it failed to negotiate a right-hand bend.
The vehicle left the road and collided with a tree, the vehicle then caught fire. The sole occupant of the car, a 36-year-old man from York was found trapped in the drivers seat and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are appealing for witnesses, in particular, they would like to trace the occupants of a silver Volkswagen Golf who stopped at the scene of the collision but left before leaving their details.
They would also like anyone who either witnessed the collision or was in the area of Linton-on-Ouse, Newton-on-Ouse and Tollerton during the course of Thursday evening and saw the black Avensis. Or anyone who was travelling along High Moor Lane, please get in touch.
